Qatar Travel Ban Check: How to Inquire About a Travel Ban

Citizens and residents of Qatar can check whether a travel ban circular is recorded against them before leaving the country. The check runs through the Ministry of Interior’s e-services portal, needs a smartcard login, and is free. This guide covers only what the official Hukoomi service page states, plus the two separate removal services Hukoomi lists. One warning: the Hukoomi inquiry page was last updated on 11 January 2021, so its steps should be re-checked on the day you use it.

What the check shows

Hukoomi describes the service as follows: citizens and residents may use it to find out whether there is a travel ban circular against them so that they can settle the matter through the competent authority before leaving the country. After login, the system shows a list of travel ban circulars recorded on the person’s ID number, together with the commanding entities. If no circulars are recorded, the system displays a message stating so.

The page does not name a QID or passport input field, does not explain how a ban is removed beyond settling it through the competent authority, and does not identify the commanding entities beyond that phrase.

Steps to inquire

The Hukoomi page lists six steps:

  1. Log in with your smartcard to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior.
  2. Select the required transaction type (personal for the smart card owner, or company name for an authorised person).
  3. Click on “Inquiry”, then select “Travel Ban Inquiry”.
  4. Use the page “List of Travel Ban Circulars” to view the circulars recorded on your ID number and the commanding entities.
  5. After logging in, the system shows the list of travel ban circulars, if any.
  6. Log out of the service to close it.

No fee is required for this service.

Note: no matching travel-ban tile was found on the MOI public Inquiries pages checked, and the MOI e-services portal itself was unreachable at the time of checking (connection reset). The in-portal listing is therefore unverified beyond the Hukoomi description above.

If a ban is listed: two separate removal services

Removal is not part of the inquiry service. Hukoomi lists two separate services, run by different authorities:

Request Cancellation of Travel Ban, provided by the Supreme Judiciary Council (last updated 23 July 2023): log in to the SJC E-Services Portal using Tawtheeq credentials, enter an activation code, open “E-Services Portal” then “Judicial Services” from the “Services” menu, and click “Request Cancellation of Travel Ban” under “Motion Trials” services. Fees are not stated as an amount; the page says to check the “Electronic Payments” section for the required fees and to complete payment there.

Request to Lift Travel Ban, provided by the Public Prosecution (last updated 11 January 2021): open “Public Prosecution Services”, click “Requests for Prevention from Leaving the Country”, log in with Tawtheeq, and attach a copy of the procuration document and delegation letter. No fee is required, and the page states the service requires three days to be completed.

Not stated

No QID or passport field is named on the inquiry page. No removal procedure is given beyond the two separate services above. No commanding-entity details are given. The MOI e-services portal listing could not be verified because the portal was unreachable.
