Qatar Medical Test and Fingerprint Process: The Framework on the Hukoomi Page

Newcomers to Qatar must take a medical exam after arrival, by law, before they can receive a Work Residence Permit. After the medical test, adults must register their fingerprints digitally with the Ministry of Interior. That two part sequence, medical exam first and digital fingerprint registration after it, is the framework on the Hukoomi Medical Commission Procedure page.

What follows is the Hukoomi framework alone: the arrival exam, the pre-departure check for named countries, annual checks for public-place work, and fingerprint registration after the medical test. The Hukoomi page checked is old, with 2015 era wording, and its text was last captured on 14 December 2025, so the exam contents and the country list must not be presented as current on that page alone. The current MOPH Medical Commission page and the MOI fingerprint page were checked live on 29 October 2026: the MOPH page states the examination fee, the documents, and how results reach the residency system, and the MOI page states the current fingerprint centres. Those current facts are stated below where they belong, labelled with their source. The MOPH page does not list what the examination covers, gives no booking route, and states no validity period. No booking route, exam-coverage detail, or validity period appears here.

Who must take the medical exam after arrival

The Hukoomi page says: “On arrival in Qatar all newcomers are required by law to take a medical exam”. It also says: “All newcomers wishing to work and live in Qatar are required by law to undergo a health screening after landing in the country to be able to receive a Work Residence Permit (RP).”

For workers families, the page says the same rules apply. It says: “Each adult family member (over the age of 18) is required by law to have a medical examination.” That over 18 wording is the family medical rule on the page. It is not a fingerprint age threshold, and this guide does not use it as one.

The pre-departure medical check for ten countries

Job seekers from ten countries are required to complete a separate medical check-up at home, through one of the approved clinics abroad, before coming to Qatar. The countries named on the page are Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Sudan.

Does everyone need a medical check before travel? The page names only those ten countries for the separate pre-departure check-up. This guide does not add other countries, clinics or booking steps, because the page checked did not state them. As flagged in the opening, the pre-departure country list is part of the old page wording, and the current MOPH page checked on 29 October 2026 does not confirm it, so re-check it against a current MOPH or Medical Commission source before you rely on it.

What the Medical Commission exam comprises

  • Newcomers should first obtain a blood-type certificate, which can be obtained from any clinic for a nominal fee, before undergoing the Medical Commission exam.
  • The exam comprises a blood test and a chest X-ray.
  • The diseases being screened for include HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B and C.

What does the exam check for? Only the screening list above is stated on the Hukoomi page, and the current MOPH page lists no tests. The words “nominal fee” above describe the blood-type certificate only, as written on the Hukoomi page, and no amount is stated for the certificate. The examination fee itself is stated on the current MOPH page: the fee for the residence medical check-up is QR 100, as stated on the MOPH Medical Commission page checked on 29 October 2026. The same page states the documents required for the check-up: the original passport, and 2 copies of the residence visa with the mobile number to be contacted. It states that companies must register their employees through the Ministry of Public Health website, and that the results of the medical examination are sent electronically to the residency system at the Ministry of Interior. No appointment route and no validity period for the examination are stated on either page checked, so none is given here.

Annual checks for work in public places

Some workers must undergo health checks every year. The page says: “Those working in restaurants, barber shops, laundries, health clubs and other public places are required to undergo annual health checks.”

That annual rule is stated as a category rule on the page. How an annual check is booked or recorded was not stated on the page checked, so this guide does not state a booking or recording process for it.

Fingerprints after the medical test

After completing the medical test, adults are required to register their fingerprints digitally with the Ministry of Interior. The fingerprint centres below are the current MOI list, checked on the live MOI Criminal Evidence and Information Department page on 29 October 2026: the CEID headquarters on Salwa Road, and service centres in Musaimeer, Al-Khor, Al-Wakra, and Al-Rwuais, which serve citizens and residents, and the Industrial Area Center, which provides the fingerprint service to all company workers and works 12 hours a day. The Duhail Fingerprint Service Center was closed and shifted to the Industrial Area Center, as stated on that page, so do not travel to Duhail for fingerprinting. The old Hukoomi list, which named Duhail and Al Shamal, is superseded by this MOI list.

The page as opened did not state appointment or booking steps for fingerprinting, documents to bring, or which ages must give fingerprints beyond the word adults. This guide therefore states no fingerprint age threshold, no documents list and no booking route.

Where the Medical Commission sits and which private hospitals are named

The Medical Commission is located on Al Muntazah Street off E-Ring Road. Three other private hospitals are authorized to carry out the mandatory procedure for a fee: Al Ahli Hospital, Doha Clinic Hospital, and Al Emadi Hospital.

No fee figure is stated for the procedure at those hospitals on the page checked, so no fee is stated here. As flagged in the opening, the location and hospital list are part of the old page wording, so re-check them against a current source before you travel to a named location. The current MOPH page, checked on 29 October 2026, lists the places where medical examinations were conducted for its results-checking service: the Medical Commission at Mesimir, the Red Crescent at Msaimeer, Karwa on the Industrial road, Al-Ahly Hospital, Al Emadi Hospital, and Doha Clinic Hospital. It states the main Medical Commission building at Musaimeer is open Sunday to Thursday, 07:00 am to 07:00 pm, that results take up to 72 hours to update, and that results for the previous 3 months only can be checked. For enquiries it gives the Medical Commissions Administration, Ministry of Public Health, phone 00974-44679111.

The fingerprint centre list above is the MOI list checked on 29 October 2026. Re-check it live before you travel, in case centres change.
