Metrash App Qatar: The Current Name, the Official Listings, and What Is Not Confirmed
Metrash is the Ministry of Interior app for citizens and residents of Qatar. The listing describes access to more than 400 services provided by MOI through mobile devices. If you live in Qatar, you will hear the name Metrash whenever an MOI service moves to a phone. The direct answer is simple on the name and less simple on the detail. The current name is METRASH. The official store listings confirm that name, and they confirm more than 400 services in broad categories. They do not list each service, and they do not give current registration steps. This guide states what the listings and the MOI pages show, and says plainly where the official record stops.
The Name Changed. Old Pages Still Use the Old Name
The app is now named METRASH. The Google Play listing and the Apple App Store listing both use METRASH. Neither listing uses the name Metrash2. No discontinuation date for the old name is stated here, because no dated MOI news page stating that date is cited in this guide.
The old name still appears on some official pages. It appears on the MOI Conduct Certificate page and in the MOI Permanent Residency FAQ. Treat every Metrash2 reference on those pages as stale wording. Do not treat an older Metrash2 page as proof of the current app name or the current route into the app. The MOI Metrash pages do not use the Metrash2 name. They use Metrash. That contrast matters, because a reader who searches and finds an old page can easily follow old wording and assume it is current. It is not current wording.
What Google Play Shows for METRASH
The Google Play listing is headed METRASH. The developer is shown as Ministry Of Interior – Qatar. The listing carries a Government App badge. The category is Tools. The content rating is Everyone.
The description on the listing states that the Metrash Application offers citizens and residents of Qatar access to more than 400 services provided by MOI through different mobile devices. It lists the categories as Traffic, Citizens, Resident, Visa holders, and others. It states that Metrash is a free application to use for individuals, that it provides secure and encrypted services, and that it is available in several languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Hindi and Urdu. It states that Metrash enables users to access an e-wallet to reach official documents. It also states that in quick easy steps the user will be able to register through Metrash. The listing gives no registration steps after that sentence.
The other listing facts shown on Google Play are: rated 4.2 stars out of five stars, 7.6K reviews, 1M plus downloads, updated on 13 Oct 2026 (the figures in this paragraph are as listed at that update), version 7.0.79, requires Android 10 and up, released on 24 Oct 2024, and a note that the latest change was minor bug fixes and enhancement. The data safety section states that no data is shared with third parties and no data is collected. No detailed list of services beyond the categories in the description appears on the Play listing.
What the Apple App Store Shows for METRASH
On the Norway storefront, the Apple App Store listing is also headed METRASH. The developer is shown as Ministry of Interior – Qatar. The category is Utilities. The listing states Free, size 213.2 MB, age rating 4 plus, and requires iOS 13.0 or later. The copyright line reads Copyright 2024@MOI.
The English description on the App Store listing is the same text as Google Play. It states more than 400 services, the same categories, the free wording, the same six languages, the e-wallet wording, and the same sentence about registering through Metrash in quick easy steps. It gives no registration steps and no detailed services list beyond those categories.
The App Store What’s New entry shows version 1.2.6 and the date 15 Oct, with no year shown; the Play listing shows version 7.0.79, updated 13 Oct 2026 — separate store facts for separate stores. The App Store ratings section on that storefront states that the app has not received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview. No rating figure appears on that Norway storefront listing. The Google Play rating does not apply to the App Store listing.
What the Listings Do Not Tell You
The listings confirm the name, the developer, the broad categories, the languages, the e-wallet wording, and the free wording. They do not confirm a service by service list. A reader who wants to know whether one named MOI service sits inside the app will not find that answer on the listings. The listings also do not confirm current registration or login steps, login error fixes, or any in-app fee. Those gaps are not filled here from competitor pages or from memory of the old Metrash2 pages. A step or a fee that is not on an official page is not stated here as fact.
That limit applies to other claims that appear on competitor pages. No competitor download procedure, 18+ registration age rule, or other in-app route is stated here, because none of those claims is confirmed on an official page. The Play description does use the word e-wallet for reaching official documents. That is the only wallet wording this guide states, and it is stated only as the listing states it.
A Different App With a Similar Owner: Do Not Confuse It With Metrash
A separate listing exists for an app called MOI Citizen App, with the identifier com.moi.citizen. Its description concerns municipal services. That is not the Qatar Metrash app. Do not report it as Metrash, and do not use its facts for Metrash. The Metrash listing is the one with the identifier qa.gov.moi.metrash, the developer Ministry Of Interior – Qatar, and the heading METRASH. Check the name and the developer before you rely on any listing you find.
The Separate Metrash SMS Subscription on the MOI Website
The MOI website has Metrash pages that are not app pages. They describe a separate SMS subscription service, and they must not be read as an app services list or an app registration route. The main MOI Metrash page offers three cards: Metrash for Individuals, Metrash for Companies, and Metrash Secondary Subscription. The description on that page states that the Metrash service is used to subscribe to Metrash for persons or change or cancel personal subscriptions, to subscribe to Metrash for companies, change email address, or cancel subscriptions, and to register an additional number to co-receive Metrash SMS messages.
The Metrash for Individuals page is a subscription form, not an app page. Its fields are QID Number with a maximum length of 11 digits, Mobile Number with a maximum length of 8 digits, Date of Birth, Language in Arabic or English, and a verification code, with buttons for Subscribe, Change Number, Unsubscribe, and Conditions. Submitting the form is not described here; only the form fields are listed.
The Conditions dialog on that page states that residents of Qatar can receive SMS messages on their mobile phones alerting them to important information such as a traffic violation alert, a resident permit expiry alert, a driving licence expiry alert, and a car registration expiry alert. The terms state that Metrash is a free service provided by MOI, that the service is activated after 24 hours of submitting a subscription request, that Metrash is an informative service, and that the mobile number must be registered with the mobile service provider in the name of the service requester. Those are SMS alert terms. They are not a list of app services, and they are not app registration steps. The MOI Metrash pages show no app services list, no app registration route, and no kiosk wording.
How to Use This Guide Without Guessing
Use the store listings to confirm the current name, the developer, the categories, the languages, and the store facts for the store you use. Use the MOI Metrash pages only for the SMS subscription wording described above. If you find an older official page that still uses the name Metrash2, treat the name as stale and do not rely on older activation wording on that page as the current route. If you need a named service inside the app, or the current steps to register or log in, the official pages do not provide them. Check the official listing and the MOI pages again on the day you act, because store versions and dates change, and because the official pages may be updated after this guide was written.
For a driving licence renewal through Metrash, see the companion guide in this program, Qatar Driving Licence Guide. That guide reports what the Hukoomi driving licence pages state about renewal through the Metrash mobile app, and it carries the same staleness flags for the January 2021 Hukoomi pages.
